How to Publish a
Book
This page is all about how to publish a book. There are a
few simple steps in the process of publishing your work. We
will share with you the major areas of producing your book. The
three big areas of your project are writing, publishing, and
marketing.
All of these steps contain several steps that we share with
you in greater detail on other pages but we will begin the How
to Publish a Book section by taking a broad look at the “Big 3”
areas of the process.
1. Writing. We share helpful information on
writing your manuscript on other pages but I’ll briefly cover
some broad things here. When writing you want to create a
strong outline for your book and in some way write a totally
new book than what’s already out there. Take a new spin on your
topic and/or present the information is a fresh and more
helpful format for the goal of setting your book apart from the
rest.
Unless your publisher asks tells you differently,
you will do best by typing your manuscript in a simple
Microsoft Word Document and saving it to disk so that you don’t
lose it, should your computer crash. More on writing in the how
to write your book section.
2. Publishing. That’s what you want to know
anyway, isn’t it- how to publish a book? There are three major
ways you can publish your book:
a. Traditional Publishing. This is
using a major publishing company to publish your book,
wherein the author usually receives an advance of some
amount to start the relationship. This advance usually
isn’t much if you’re a beginner with a small or no
platform. More on traditional publishing on that page
b. Self Publishing. The issues with
traditional publishing is the reason authors all over the
world have the last decade, maximized the opportunities of
self publishing. You can actually completely self publish
your book by doing several things.
I. Writing your manuscript
II. Creating a Book Cover or Hiring a Cover
artist to complete on for you
III. Registering Your Copyright
IV. Getting an ISBN and Bar Code for your
book
V. Printing Book Copies through a Book
Bindery
VI. Establishing Your Own Distribution
Channels or using a Distribution Company
c. Hire a Self Publishing
Company. Most smart authors today are learning how to

self publishing company generally lets you:
I. Lets you keep the
Rights to Your book
II. Takes care you as many
of the aspects of book production as agreed
upon
III. Pays better
royalties
IV. Gives better discount
on author wholesale purchases
3. Marketing. Don’t just ask how
to publish a book, ask how to market a book, because when the
dust settles you could be left with a book you’ve poured your
heart into and have no readers. This is a crucial aspect of the
success of your publishing process.
